NEW POLL - NEXT SEASON (CARS)

New postby Surge » Tue Feb 02, 2010 2:01 pm

This poll is first of all for those that signed up AND participated in the WTCC season. You guys will have the biggest say in what we drive next.

Please enter your vote ASAP so we have time to find a winner and put a season together.

WTCC and Mini Coopers are not an option at this time for obvious reasons. To increase the chance of finding a winner you are only allowed to pick one option this time and you are not allowed to change it. We will stick with Race 07 and GTR Evolution content. We would lose quite a few drivers if we added RACE On or STCC content (etc) at this time.

I'm down with the GT Clubs, and a couple custom tracks for variety :D

I look forward to the start of the new season, and I propose an alternative to a championship run on Sunday or Saturday afternoon at around 15.00 of your time so that we Europeans can participate as many from us would be 21.00

I'm surprised how many votes there are for the Clubs, I thought there would be more open wheeler votes or so. The clubs are the next step up from WTCC, so it is probably a good pick for us. It's not over yet though, put your votes in guys.

dory, if you can find enough people you can try to organize another season at the time you mention. I would be happy to set up the server for that. You can use the forums to organize it if you like. The current season will stay though, as that works best for most of the US and Australian members.

The GT Sport would be a good one - a healthy step up from the WTCC.
GT Club would also be OK but the cars seem reasonably close on hp when compared to WTCC - the sport class would require the delicate application of the right foot... which would make for more opportunities to pass when somebody cooks the rears coming out of a corner and has to back off for a second.

Mugwa wants moar powa! 8-)

It's not easy to see how much faster the GT Clubs are on a track like Zandvoort. I don't know what else you've tried. They will stand out more if we go to Monza, or Spa, or some other fast track. They are faster on the straights and have more grip in the turns, and accelerate faster. Within each class I think the opportunities for passing due to mistakes are about equal since faster classes will correct their mistakes faster etc. Just what I imagine, and could be wrong. If there is a desire to step it up more, I'm with ya'll! 8-)

My reason for stepping it up gradually is just because we are in a learning phase. We still use driving aids, still have accidents in turn 1, things like that. It would be nice if everyone had a wheel to use eventually so we didn't need driving aids on for keyboard users (that's not a stab at anyone). I just work here, you guys need to tell me what you want to do. :-P I'll drive anything anywhere. :ugeek:

Good observation. In the WTCC season we had 07, 06 and 87 cars, even tho' there were differences in power it allowed more choice.

This raises an interesting question, are the GT Clubs and GT Sports close enough we could field both classes in one season?

See power/mass ratio chart for reference http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=13684
Obviously other factors come into play but it's a starting point...

No, they are not close enough. We can mix years but not cars from different classes. The sports are another step up like the clubs are from wtcc.
